Detailed Planning Application

Herries Avenue, Heathhall

The Development Management Committee decided not to support our plans for new homes on the former Heathhall College site at Herries Avenue, Heathhall. The development was recommended by officers for approval and committee members voted 6-5 against the officers recommendation for approval on noise grounds. We submitted an appeal in September 2017, and anticipate a decision in May 2018.

The brownfield site is allocated for housing development in the new Dumfries and Galloway Local Development Plan and our high-quality scheme would help to boost the supply of much needed new homes and would contribute to the supply of affordable housing, of which there is a shortage in the area. In addition, the proposed development would have a positive impact on the local economy by providing local contractors with opportunities to tender for work, with knock on benefits for local supply chains and other local businesses and services.

The proposed development would deliver 75 dwellings with a mixture of detached, semi-detached and terraced homes. In addition, nearly 20% of the new properties would be affordable homes.
