Detailed Planning Application
Story Homes has started to prepare detailed proposals to build approximately 80 high quality new homes on this site as an extension to our neighbouring Summerpark development. Our proposals would further extend this sustainable and integrated development as well as making an important contribution to the district’s housing supply. The proposed development would deliver a mix of house types, and some of these new homes would be affordable. It is anticipated that the planning application will be submitted in early 2019.
A public exhibition took place at Lockards Farm pub, Lockerbie Road, Dumfries on 13 September, and members of the project team were available to discuss the draft proposals with local residents and stakeholders. We also wrote to those local residents who would be most affected by our proposals as well as key stakeholders.

Meeting housing needs
The site will provide a range of family homes that will help to meet local housing needs, including the provision of new affordable homes within the development or a contribution towards provision.
Our proposals will provide up to 20 % affordable housing that will be allocated for use by people with a local connection to the area. The affordable homes are anticipated to be 2 and 3-bedroom properties.
Where there is a proven shortfall in available places in the local primary and secondary schools, we may be required to provide a financial contribution to fund any additional places required as a result of our proposals.
Public open space
Our proposals will include the creation of new open space for the benefit of local people and new residents alike.
Our proposals will deliver any necessary highways works, with the detailed design and timescales for implementation to be agreed with the highways authority.
Our proposals will support existing local businesses and help create additional employment through new opportunities for local sub-contractors and the supply chain.
