Orton Road, Carlisle
Proposal
Story Homes is preparing a full planning application to build approximately 153 high quality new homes on land at Orton Road. The land is allocated for residential development in the adopted Carlisle District Local Plan.
Our proposals would create a sustainable and integrated development that would make an important contribution to the local housing supply. The proposed development is for a mix of open market and affordable homes and would deliver a mix of bungalows, terraced, semi-detached and detached dwellings of between two and five-bedroom properties.
A draft version of these proposals has been prepared and we are seeking your views (closing date for comment is 13 December 2020). We expect to submit a full planning application early in 2021 and anticipate a decision in summer 2021.

Benefits

Affordable Homes
Our proposals will provide up to 30% affordable housing that will be allocated for people with a local connection to the area. The affordable homes are anticipated to include a range of two and three-bedroom properties.

Local Schools
Where there is a proven shortfall in available places in the local secondary school, we will provide a financial contribution to fund any additional places required resulting from our proposals.

Sustainability
Our proposals will include a travel plan that will include measures to help reduce reliance on private vehicles

Local Economy
Our proposals will support existing local businesses and help create additional employment through new opportunities for local sub-contractors and the supply chain.
