Kerrie and Keith Fiddler
“We have nothing but good things to say about the whole house buying experience.”
A local family from Carlisle have secured their perfect Story property thanks to the housebuilder’s Part Exchange scheme.
Kerrie and Keith Fiddler recently moved into their brand new Story home at Aspen Grange, Carlisle, along with Kerrie’s mum, Elizabeth. They opted for a 5-bedroom detached ‘Weybridge’ house type which offers 1,902 sq ft of spacious living across three floors.
Kerrie said: “Our reason for this picking this style of property was because of the living space over three floors which gave us all our own individual areas. Mum uses the living room, Keith and I use the living space in the kitchen and Keith has a den on the top floor in case he wants to escape!”
Keith added: “We love all the rooms. The layout works perfectly for us and we all have the space we need. It is really light and airy and the garden is a perfect size. We weren’t specifically looking for a new build but having a home where everything is new, low maintenance and where nothing needs to be done is ideal for us.”
When asked why the family chose a Story new build home, Kerrie explained: “We chose Story Homes because we have been aware of the company for a long time; they are well known in Carlisle, they have a good reputation and the build quality is exceptional.
“Our home was a ‘view home’ and so was fully furnished – it had carpets, curtains, light fittings and furniture which made it very easy for us to imagine living there.”
The couple opted to use Story Homes’ Part Exchange scheme to buy their new property. Keith explained: “Kerrie’s mum’s house was up for sale as she wanted to downsize; her garden was also too big and she wanted to move into town to be closer to amenities and on a bus route.
“Unfortunately her house wasn’t selling and so we decided to Part Exchange Elizabeth’s house, sell ours and buy the new Story home together enabling Kerrie’s mum to get moving.”
Kerrie continued: “Part Exchange made our move so easy. From casually looking around Aspen Grange on a Saturday afternoon, mum’s house was valued and a very acceptable offer was made five days later. We moved in five weeks after that. It was incredibly quick and straightforward – there was also no rush to hand the keys over for mum’s property, enabling her to move out of her home of 27 years at a pace that suited her.”
Hayley Blair, Head of Sales at Story Homes, Said: “With our Part Exchange scheme, Story Homes buys a customer’s property for up to 100 per cent of its market value, effectively acting as a cash buyer for the house. A major advantage of the scheme is that you don’t get caught up in a chain with the possibility of losing your buyer or have to worry about any last minute hitches – so with no estate agent fees and no chain, this scheme takes away the stress of a house move.
“It’s great to see that a Story home at our Aspen Grange development was the perfect choice for Kerrie, Keith and Elizabeth. We wish them every happiness in their new home.”
Before purchasing their new home, Kerrie and Keith visited the Story show homes at The Ridings and Priory Grange to get a feel for the properties and to take inspiration from the interior design. Although the family had initial doubts about the local area having never lived “north of the river” in Carlisle, they settled in very quickly learning that Kingstown is handy for the motorway, work, buses, shops and their other family members.
In summary, Kerrie said: “We have nothing but good things to say about the whole house buying experience. We would absolutely recommend Story Homes to everyone we know. The Sales Executive Julie was so helpful before, during and after the purchase, which is something that we didn’t find with our previous builder.”
