Ken Hogg and his family are enjoying the pace at The Ridings

September 2015

Ken was looking for a new home for him and his 16-year-old daughter, Chloe, with plenty of room for when his two younger children, Darielle, eight, and Ralph, four, come to stay too.

After visiting the show home at The Ridings, Ken was quick to secure their new home, a ‘Balmoral’ house type from the Story Homes range. This four bedroom detached home offers spacious rooms, a large lounge, separate dining room and large kitchen diner, with landscaped gardens and integral garage.

Ken said: “The layout of the Balmoral worked for me and my family’s needs, with bigger bedrooms for me and my older daughter and two further bedrooms for when Darielle and Ralph come to stay.

“I wanted somewhere I could move into straightaway, without needing to do any extra work or decorating and that was easy to maintain. I was particularly impressed by the standard of finish of a Story Home and all the extras included, such as the turfed and paved gardens and ‘A’ rated appliances in the kitchen.”

Ken was also pleased with the location of the development, being a short commute for Chloe to school in Dalston and for Ken to his restaurant, Fantails, in Wetheral. A well-known face to locals, Ken has owned the restaurant for 20 years, which serves a classic menu of traditional dishes, cooked to original recipes.

Aside from the ease of commute there is another reason that Ken loves living at The Ridings – its close proximity to the Carlisle Racecourse. “Racing’s a big hobby of mine, so it’s great to have the racecourse on my doorstep. I’ve got a syndicate horse named after my son Ralph, so I’m down there a lot.

“I was even considering renaming my home to Frankie’s House, after the jockey great, Frankie Dettori!”
