We opened our show home at our first development in Newcastle upon Tyne last weekend, with our launch event bringing more than 100 visitors through the doors.
The 70-home development, Dovecote Place, is located on Newburn Road between the villages of Newburn and Throckley, and features a range of three and four-bedroom homes.
The four-bedroom detached ‘Taunton’ show home, which has been styled by our interior designer Suzanne Webster, displays the features that come as standard in our homes. These include bi-fold/French doors leading onto turfed gardens, large block-paved driveways, bathroom fittings by Crosswater and tiling by Porcelanosa.
First-time buyers, Clarke and Hannah, attended the opening event to view the show home, having already reserved the same house type a few hours earlier. Hannah said: “We knew that the ‘Taunton’ was our dream home, but it was great to be able to see the interior of this house type for the first time. It definitely lived up to our expectations; we loved the bright and airy hallway, spacious rooms and the master bedroom. We got some good ideas for the decor of our own Story Home too and are looking forward to moving in now.”

Among the visitors were Gail and Matthew Rich, along with their son and two daughters. Sisters Nicole and Jessica both have Batten Disease – a rare degenerative illness – which is the inspiration behind their parents’ charity, The Nicole Rich Foundation. The Throckley-based family is now considering moving to a home that can be adapted to suit Nicole and Jessica’s needs.
Gail commented: “Even before we stepped foot in the door of the show home, we were blown away by the feel of the development. We knew that Story Homes was a five-star builder and, having now seen the development and show home, we can see that they are on a different level from other developers. The attention to detail really stood out and, as we made our way through the rooms, we could easily picture ourselves living here. Our children were already choosing their bedrooms!”
