Work starts on site at newest Carlisle housing development
Building work has now started on site at the newest Carlisle housing development. Story Homes development ‘The Ridings’ in Blackwell will bring 318 new build homes to the market. A mix of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom properties are planned for the 31 acre site off Durdar Road, close to Carlisle Racecourse.
The development will also provide affordable housing for local people and create job opportunities both directly through Story Homes and indirectly through sub contractors and the supply chain for the lifespan of the development.
The Ridings will have ample open space, a park and routes for walkers and cyclists linking to the existing network. The development will also see upgrades made to the nearby popular leisure facilities at Hammonds Pond, benefitting the wider Carlisle community.
Louise McGuckin, Head of Sales for Story Homes said: “Enquiries about The Ridings have been coming in ever since planning was approved and we already have a growing mailing list of interested customers. The housing market is buoyant and Carlisle is no different. Government schemes like Help to Buy are enabling people to take their first step onto the property ladder and own 100% of their own home. We have already seen high demand for our other local developments such as The Grange in Dalston and we expect The Ridings to be just as popular.”
Sales on site will start in mid June, with prices and availability released at the same time. Two show homes are due to open at The Ridings in Autumn 2014.
Story Homes was recently awarded the House Builders Federation (HBF) ‘5 Star’ Customer Care award after more than 90% of customers polled said that they were happy with their new home and would recommend Story Homes to a friend. Two developments have also been shortlisted for prestigious industry awards, including Crindledyke Farm in Carlisle.
