I joined Story Homes in 2008 as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor and the company has supported me fantastically in the time since and helped me to progress to where I am now.
I wanted to work at Story Homes because it had such a good reputation in the local area as both a builder of quality developments and as an excellent employer – it was a company that everyone knew of as somewhere that if you worked hard, got stuck in, gave your all and had the right values then the opportunities for progression and development that could be provided were endless.
In my role I am responsible for ensuring the team that work with me assist our Production team in building our houses to the desired quality standards by sourcing good, local subcontractors & suppliers to complete the work. As the works progress on site we are also responsible for certifying payments, pricing up customer extras and measuring how well we are performing against the agreed site start budget.
The team and I work closely with various Story Homes departments and external parties such as subcontractors, suppliers and consultants and one of the most satisfying aspects of the role is sourcing a new subcontractor and watching them grow their business with us, which is something we pride ourselves on doing wherever we can
