Baby boom at Brookwood Park

August 2018

New home, new baby may be an old wives saying, but there might be some truth in the tale for three families at our Brookwood Park development.

Not only do the three mothers-to-be live on the same road, but they live next door to each other. All couples have lived in the same street for over 12 months and became friends before finding out they were all having babies in 2018.

David and Hayley, who are expecting their second baby, said: “We have been in our home now for over a year. We previously lived in a two-bedroom terraced home in Kirkham and when we drove on to the Brookwood Park development and viewed the Durham show home, we knew we had to have one.

“Our daughter Penelope was only a baby when we moved in and now we are expecting our second baby, our home offers us all the space we were looking for.”

Having a young family, the couple decided they didn’t want to buy pre-loved home that needed work and always compared every home they looked at to the Durham, as it offered them the perfect layout, warranties and all in the right location.

Hayley continued: “The design and finish of a Story Home is exceptional. The open plan kitchen, dining and family area to the back of the house is a great space for us and somewhere we spend a lot of time – having Penelope and a new baby on the way means we can use this space as a family and it’s also great for entertaining. The kitchen came with integrated appliances so we haven’t had to go to the expense of buying these additional items which has been great and we have been enjoying the summer in our large garden.

“Lucy and Stacie live next door and they are expecting their baby at the end of this year. It’s funny as Lucy and David used to go to school together, so to be living next door to each other and having children at the same time is ideal. Brookwood Park has a real community feel and we’ve made great friends on here.”

Teachers Lucy and Stacie, will be the last couple to bring their baby home as they are expecting later this year. They said: “We’re both from the local area, so it’s the perfect place for us to settle down and raise our family. We used Help to Buy to get us on the next step of the property ladder and secure a large family home.”

Lucy continued: “We’re really looking forward to bringing our baby home. We’ve made great friends already and I can tell it has a great family atmosphere – I know we are going to love raising our family here.”

Fellow mum Sarah is expecting her first baby, said: “I met Roger in Manchester and we decided to move back to Kirkham to be near to family. I’m not from the area so it has been great to meet Hayley, Lucy and Stacie – and to be having babies at the same time will mean we can make the most of the local area going for walks and for the children to grow up together.”

Sales executive Denise Mooney has worked for Story Homes on the Brookwood Park development for over a year and has helped each couple secure their home and seen them move in.

She said: “One of my favourite things about my job is getting to know the families that move onto Brookwood Park. It has been absolutely lovely to watch their journeys, from choosing their properties, moving onto the site and now starting to build families.

“It’s a really unique development here and the residents have started to build up a friendly and supportive community which is great to see.”
