Story Homes supports Thursby Parish Hall to purchase lifesaving equipment

October 2022

In a bid to support the local residents of Thursby we have donated £500.00 to the Trustees at Thursby Parish Hall to help fund the purchase of a Defibrillator for the community.

John Regan, Vice Chair of Thursby Parish Hall Trustees, reached out to us to see if we could support their fundraising efforts. Currently we have a historic development in Thursby, known as St Andrew’s View, and are seeking planning approval for a second phase of 67 homes on land to the west of this development.

Commenting on the donation, John said: “The Trustees of Thursby Parish Hall were extremely grateful for the very kind donation towards our Defibrillator Project. We now have a fully functioning unit fixed to our external wall which we know will be a tremendous asset to our local community.”

Discussing the unit that was installed, John said: “As well as a modern, state of the art defibrillator housed in a secure and accessible storage box, we were also able to provide a movement sensor light above and a dedicated direct contact 999 phone link. This last item was necessary as mobile reception in the area is unreliable.

“Without the generous support from Story Homes we would have struggled to provide such a comprehensive package for our Parish neighbours. On behalf of all of the Trustees of Thursby Parish Hall, I would like to thank the team at Story once more.”

We are committed to supporting local communities and could see that there was need for the lifesaving equipment in the local area. Luke Walker, Land and Technical Director at Story Homes in Cumbria & Scotland said: “We know how much of a difference having access to a defibrillator can make in an emergency, so we were pleased to be able to support the Trustees of Thursby Parish Hall with this donation.

“We are committed to supporting our local communities and we always endeavour to be a good neighbour to those who live close to our developments. The new defibrillator will support both local residents and Story homeowners for years to come and we’re thrilled that the Trustees were able to purchase a comprehensive package with the donation we made.”
