Story Homes is pleased to share the news of an exclusive customer incentive ‘deposit match’ which is available on selected plots throughout the local housebuilder’s Cumbria & Scotland developments.
The 5% deposit match initiative is an exciting scheme – Story Homes will pay up to 5% of the purchase price of the selected plot, as agreed at point of reservation. The customer’s mortgage can be reduced by 5% which in turn reduces the monthly mortgage payments.
After purchasing their new Story Home back in November and benefitting from the deposit match scheme, Shirley Page and her husband recently spent their first Christmas in their brand new property.
The couple had set their hearts on a new-build home specifically, and after hearing about the 5% deposit incentive from Story Homes, opted for a three-bedroom semi-detached ‘Kingston’ house type at the Orchard Place development in Appleby.
Shirley said: “We initially viewed the show home at Orchard Place and loved it, but we were still considering other homes in Carlisle and Penrith and felt quite torn about which housebuilder to go for. We then received a text message from Story Homes detailing a 5% deposit match scheme and this incentive – paired with the fact that we were also offered free carpets and flooring throughout our home – really sealed the deal for us. The deal was too good to turn down!

The deposit match initiative is of real benefit to those who are saving for a new-build home but are unable to afford the monthly mortgage payments with a deposit of just 5%. The scheme could help push buyers over the threshold and, thanks to a new overall deposit of 10%, ensure that the monthly payments are affordable.
Hayley Blair, Head of Sales for Story Homes said: “Those customers who have just a 5% deposit available may feel restricted as only a limited number of mortgage providers will accept a 5% deposit, and this could result in a higher interest rate for the buyer. A 5% gifted deposit from Story Homes would take the customer up to 10%, meaning that there would be a wider choice of mortgage providers available to them and hence reducing their interest and monthly payments.
“Sometimes, however, the cash deposit is not the best option for the customer and so by offering a flexible range of other incentives – such as contribution to legal fees, stamp duty and extras such as carpets and flooring – Story Homes is able to offer the deal that best suits the customer to help get them moving.
