Wedding bells at High Wood, as Kelly and Joe get married

October 2016

kelly-and-joe-smith-with-wedding-photo-in-loungeWedding bells were ringing when Kelly and Joe Smith, who live on our High Wood development, got married recently. The happy couple married in Lancaster registry office and then headed over to Lancaster Brewery for their reception with their three children, family and friends, before heading off on honeymoon to Majorca.

So, it’s been a busy year for the Lancaster couple, not only have they got married but they have moved in to their “Greenwich” four-bedroom detached home at High Wood.

Joe (41), is a manager for Engineering company, Thomas Graham and Sons, whose head office is based in Carlisle next to Story Homes’ head office. A lot of his colleagues live in a Story Home across Cumbria, so he had heard of our great reputation and quality of build. So when he was looking for a family home in Lancaster, he automatically came to our development at High Wood.

Joe said: “We were renting and wanted to get on the property ladder, as it felt we were just wasting money. We have three children so we needed a home with space and it was time for us to step up to a bigger property. We had been waiting for the right size and style of house to come along and the four-bedroom Greenwich house was perfect for us. The children have their own bedrooms now.

“High Wood is the perfect location. It’s in the heart of the city of Lancaster yet has such a rural feel with countryside on our doorstep, which is great for the children and to walk our dog Betsy. Story Homes was recommended to us for its quality and great specification that comes as standard. The houses are well spread out and this is not what you expect from a new build development. We looked at other new builds, but decided High Wood was for us.”

Mobile beautician Kelly (35) loves the space that her new home has to offer with French doors leading out to the garden from the lounge, which is perfect for the family and for entertaining. She works from home so the front dining room is the perfect place to work from.

We wouldn’t have been able to buy our dream home without Help to Buy. It made a massive difference to the size of our mortgage. It’s given us the opportunity to buy our home but also get married, all within the same year.

“Having a new home and planning the wedding has been so exciting. I loved being able to walk out from my own house on my wedding day.”

Joe, Kelly and their children have moved in to the perfect family home, thanks to the Help to Buy scheme. Using the Help to Buy scheme meant they only needed to put down a 5% deposit and a 20% government grant. Other purchasers can become a homeowner like them using the Help to Buy scheme before the end of 2016.

“High Wood, was our first development in Lancaster. We know the difference is in the detail in our homes and we offer a high quality specification as standard, which includes a fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, tiling in the bathroom and en-suite and spacious rooms throughout.

“Congratulations to Joe and Kelly.”

High Wood is a high quality, sought after development offering a range of stylish 2, 3, 4 and 5-bedroom properties and is conveniently situated close to all of the amenities that Lancaster has to offer including good local schools and transport links.
