Christmas comes early to Cockermouth

December 2017

Santa visited Cockermouth last weekend for a magical sleigh ride around the town. Christmas gifts were delivered to children who gathered to meet Santa thanks to our donation.

The annual event is organised by Cockermouth Roundtable and also features a Christmas light switch on event complete with live entertainment, a fun fair and Santa’s grotto.

Andy Procter, this year’s Christmas event organiser, said: “Santa’s sleigh ride truly marks the start of Christmas for Cockermouth and is something residents look forward to all year. Seeing the excitement of the children as they receive their gifts is priceless and it’s an event which brings the whole community together which is so important, particularly at this time of year.

“We can’t thank Story Homes enough for their donation. Santa’s sleigh was bursting with gifts thanks to the company’s generosity and the event wouldn’t have been possible without it.”

Ian Storey, Managing Director for Story Homes in Cumbria, said: “We’re delighted to have helped bring some festive cheer to Cockermouth. As a local business, we do everything we can to support the local community all year round, but it’s particularly special at Christmas.”

This donation was made as part of our ‘Future Story’ scheme, which aims to help charities and community organisations that surround our developments – in this case, Strawberry Grange in Cockermouth. We accept sponsorship applications via our website all year round, with a regional committee reviewing submissions on a quarterly basis.

We are now inviting charities and community groups to apply for support in the next quarter. Applications for sponsorship should be made by completing the form at www.storyhomes.co.uk/sustainable-story.
