With reports of a national shortage of three bedroom homes, Story Homes is offering fantastic deals on newly built three bedroom properties.

A survey by an independent estate agency network has revealed that 57% of estate agents are seeing a lack of semi detached homes and 49% reported a decline in the number of houses offering three bedrooms. It was also revealed that the average selling time for a three bedroom semi-detached property is 55 days faster than the national average selling time for all properties.

One theory is that the Government Help to Buy scheme is allowing first time buyers to skip the first rung of the ladder and jump straight to a three bedroom property. Others who are looking to step up may have previously been stuck in starter homes and can now afford a larger four bedroom home thanks to Help to Buy.

Susan Pollard, Sales Manager for Story Homes said: “Although the survey identifies that there is a lack of three bedroom homes on the second hand market, we have researched housing needs and we are building a wide range of properties to suit the needs of our customers. Three bedroom properties are always popular with first time buyers and young families and we have a wide range of styles and layouts available across our developments. Help to Buy is also supporting our customers to buy their dream home which means that they can afford a larger home with room to grow.”

Story Homes is building a range of three bedroom homes across their developments, including their newest development, The Ridings in Blackwell, Carlisle.

Properties such as the three bedroom, two bathroom semi-detached ‘Kingston’ house type and the three bedroom ‘Banbury’ dormer bungalow are popular with customers. The Ridings is a 318 home development on the edge of Carlisle, close to the Racecourse. The development offers a wide range of property types from bungalows and apartments to detached and semi-detached homes with 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. The development will also see ample public open space and contribute to improvements made to nearby Hammonds Pond.

As well as a range of incentives and packages, Story Homes also offers the Governments Help to Buy scheme, which allows buyers to own 100% of their own home with just 5% deposit and a 20% equity loan from the Government.
