Emma Dolan is one of the four new graduates who joined us last month and is based in our Chorley office. We caught up with Emma to find out more about her and how she is finding life at Story Homes so far…

What attracted you to our graduate programme?

I graduated from John Moores University in Liverpool with a degree in Law, and then achieved an MSc in Real Estate and Property Management from the University of Salford. I knew that I wanted to be involved in the property industry so I jumped at the chance to be a quantity surveyor, and the graduate programme offered by Story Homes seemed to be a great way to get on the ladder.

As the programme runs for two years and the North West region is growing significantly, I thought it was an excellent opportunity that would enable me to progress my career.

Why Story Homes?

I was aware of Story Homes before applying; I already loved the product and knew that the company had core values that resonated with me. I was also excited about playing a part in our ambitious growth plans.

How did you find the recruitment process?

I thought the assessment centre was fantastic. It was the first one I had attended, and the time and investment put into graduate recruitment by the company far exceeded my expectations. Everything was very well-structured and I enjoyed being able to meet senior members of staff. The fact that Story Homes is so committed to bringing in young talent made me want to work here even more.

I was offered the job the following day and was absolutely delighted. I accepted without hesitation as it felt like the right role and company for me.

How have your first few weeks been?

I have really enjoyed it so far. Everyone is so approachable and I like working in an office where there is great team working and strong relationships between colleagues. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and to continuing to learn from my colleagues in the commercial team.

How do you hope your career will progress?

I am definitely excited about my future here, particularly due to our rapid growth. My goal is to work in management, so I am really keen to develop my skills and learn from our experienced team, as well as developing relationships with our contractors and making a contribution towards achieving our targets.
