Protected: Shaping the future of home sales: a Q&A with Story Homes’ Sales Executives

March 2026

We recently caught up with some of the Sales Executives from across our three regions to discover what they love most about their roles and why they are proud to be part of the team.

How flexible is your role at Story Homes in terms of work hours, location, or personal commitments?

“The flexibility of my role at Story Homes has been a game-changer, especially as a parent with a young family. The working hours allow me to drop my children off at school and nursery each day, and I’m even able to attend special events like celebration assemblies. Having two days off during the week has also significantly reduced my childcare costs, making it easier to balance work and family life. The flexibility here supports my personal commitments, which is something I really value.”

How does the management team at Story Homes support Sales Executives in achieving their sales goals?

“The management team at Story Homes provides excellent support through regular meetings with Sales Executives. These meetings are typically informal, offering a relaxed setting to discuss strengths and areas for development. They’re incredibly helpful in providing guidance and helping me stay focused on achieving my sales goals. This ongoing support ensures I’m always moving in the right direction.”

What is the most rewarding aspect of being part of the Story Homes sales team?

“The most rewarding aspect is definitely handing over a beautiful Story home to our customers. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of their journey and to witness their excitement as they step into their new home. Being involved in that moment of joy is really special.”

How do you collaborate with your team to drive sales success?

“At Story Homes, we’re a close-knit team that values regular communication and mutual support. Everyone is always willing to go above and beyond, sharing their knowledge and expertise to help one another succeed. This collaborative spirit creates an environment where we all work together towards common goals, ensuring our collective success in driving sales.”

What skills or experiences have you gained here at Story Homes that have been key to your success as a Sales Executive?

“One of the most valuable skills I’ve gained at Story Homes is the ability to identify buying and non-buying behaviours, thanks to the ‘Customer Insights’ training led by our Learning and Development team. This training is, without a doubt, the best sales training I’ve ever received. It has provided me with practical tools and strategies that help me navigate the day-to-day challenges on site, ultimately contributing to my success as a Sales Executive.

How does Story Homes maintain strong customer relationships, and what role do you play in ensuring that customers are satisfied throughout the sales process?

“Through a well-defined customer journey that begins at the reservation stage. As the Sales Executive, it’s my responsibility to ensure that this journey is communicated clearly to each customer. I make it a priority to speak with clients regularly, whether it’s weekly or even daily, providing them with updates and offering them the opportunity to ask any questions. This ongoing dialogue helps build trust and ensures a smooth, positive experience throughout the sales process.”

In what ways does Story Homes encourage collaboration and communication among its team members?

“Story Homes encourage collaboration and communication by setting a clear and shared goal: achieving customer satisfaction. We work together as a team, supporting one another to reach this target. Every week, we hold site and sales meetings with a well-defined agenda that focuses on driving positive outcomes, such has excellent quality scores. This regular communication and collective effort ensure that everyone is working towards the same high standards.”

What excites you the most about the future of Story Homes, and why is now a great time to join the company?

“What excites me most is Story Homes’ plans for sustainable growth. As the company strengthens its reputation across the North of England, there are great opportunities for career development. With investments in new areas of land and a strong, supportive team, now is the perfect time to join and be part of Story Homes’ exciting future.”

For someone considering a sales role at Story Homes, what would you say makes this company a great place to work?

“First and foremost, it’s the product itself—I’m genuinely proud to sell a Story home. It’s rewarding to see a customer’s eyes light up when they walk through one of our beautiful show homes.

Beyond the homes, the role is made even better by the tools and support available. As a Sales Executive, you’ll have access to an industry-leading customer relationship management system, interactive presentation boards for showcasing our homes, and constant support from senior management.

What really sets Story Homes apart, though, is the sense of connection. Unlike other roles where you might only interact with your site team and Sales Manager, at Story Homes you become part of a wider community. From day one, I’ve had the chance to build relationships across regions through training sessions, events, and celebrations like the STAR Awards, sales conferences, and even race days. All of this happened within my first year, making me feel truly valued and part of the bigger picture.

It’s this combination of pride in the product, excellent support, and an inclusive culture that makes Story Homes a fantastic place to grow your career in sales.”
