We are pleased to confirm the submission of revised plans to Dumfries & Galloway Council for a new phase of development at our successful Summerpark site in Dumfries.
The updated proposals build on the well-established and award-winning Summerpark community, offering 108 high-quality new homes on land at Marchfield (H14). The revised plans include a mix of three to five-bedroom properties, featuring modern, open plan internal layouts and exterior details that create the distinctive street scenes for which we are renowned.
Adam McNally, Cumbria and Scotland Head of Land and Planning for Story Homes, said:
“We’re proud of the community that has grown at Summerpark over the past 17 years, and we’re excited to have submitted these updated plans for consideration. The revisions reflect feedback from the local community, and if approved, this next phase – bringing 108 new homes – would allow us to continue supporting housing delivery in Dumfries.
“The revised scheme includes a reorientation of the homes closest to the Rounall, a nearby wooded green space, to make this a key feature of the development. We’ve also created a new pedestrian link through the site, connecting Summerfield Lane directly to the Rounall, and relocated the children’s play area to improve accessibility and visibility for residents.”
The scheme continues to offer a range of community benefits, including tree-lined streets and new green areas of public open space that will be accessible to both new and existing residents.
We remain committed to investing in Dumfries & Galloway as a region, and if given the green light, this revised phase would continue to support the local economy during construction. The development would create sustained opportunities for regional subcontractors, tradespeople and suppliers, alongside generating increased demand for local businesses and services once the new homes are occupied.
Adam continued:
“Working with local subcontractors and tradespeople has always been central to our approach. This next phase isn’t just about new homes – it’s about supporting jobs and creating lasting opportunities and continuation of workstreams for businesses across Dumfries & Galloway.”
First opened in 2008, Summerpark was our first Scottish development and remains the largest in Dumfries & Galloway. It is now home to more than 500 residents and has been recognised with multiple awards for design and quality.
It is anticipated that a decision on these revised plans will be received by Dumfries & Galloway Council in summer 2026.
