Story Homes raises over £75,000 for Cancer Research UK and announces new charity partners

April 2025

We are proud to announce that we have raised over £75,000 for Cancer Research UK over the course of our three-year charity partnership.

Staff across Story Homes’ regional offices in Carlisle, Newcastle and Chorley have shown incredible commitment to fundraising for Cancer Research UK, participating in activities including golf days, bake sales, raffles, and dress down days. Most recently, during the 2024/25 financial year, colleagues raised £25,000 for the charity.

Reflecting on the partnership, Nicky McKenna, Cancer Research UK Relationship Manager, said: “We’re deeply grateful and proud to have been Story Homes’ charity partner for the past three years. The incredible total of over £75,000 raised by Story Homes employees will help fund new, life-saving discoveries and continue beating cancer. It’s inspiring to see such ongoing commitment from a business, and we want to thank each and every colleague for their contributions. Their support has made a real difference, and we wish them all the best with their next charitable ventures.”

As the partnership with Cancer Research UK came to a close in March 2025, we are pleased to announce that for the 2025/26 financial year, we will be supporting two new regional charities: The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA). All funds raised will be split equally between the two organisations.

Both charities provide vital emergency air response services across the North of England. GNAAS delivers critical care to thousands of patients yearly over 8,000 Square miles across the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man. NWAA delivers specialist and enhanced pre-hospital care to the most critically ill and injured patients in the North West, being called to over 3,000 incidents each year.

Hayley Blair, Sales & Group Marketing Director at Story Homes, said: “We are incredibly proud of the £75,000 we’ve raised for Cancer Research UK over the past three years. Cancer affects so many of us, and we’re honoured to have supported such a meaningful cause.

“As we look ahead to FY26, we’re excited to partner with both The Great North Air Ambulance and North West Air Ambulance – two charities that do amazing work in our regions. We know our colleagues will be just as enthusiastic and committed to supporting these vital services.”

Natasha Banks, Specialist Fundraiser at The Great North Air Ambulance Service, commented: “We’re thrilled to be chosen by Story Homes as one of their charity partners for 2025/26. Our crews are on call 365 days a year, providing life-saving care to those in urgent need, often in hard-to-reach places. Support from businesses like Story Homes is essential in helping us continue this work.”

Chris Andrews, Corporate Partnership Officer at North West Air Ambulance Charity, added:

“We are absolutely delighted to be named as one of Story Homes’ charity partners. It’s thanks to generous supporters that we can continue to provide pre-hospital critical care to those who need us most. We’re really looking forward to working with Story Homes over the next year and making a real impact together.”
