Story Homes takes on Principal Contractor role as marketing suite opens at Killingworth Gate

August 2026

We’re pleased to announce another major milestone at Killingworth Gate, with Story Homes now taking on the role of Principal Contractor for the first phase of our development at Killingworth Moor.

Following full planning approval from North Tyneside Council in December 2025, work is progressing well on site, with groundworks and infrastructure advancing as we take responsibility for managing and coordinating the construction phase.

Killingworth Gate will deliver a mix of two to six-bedroom homes, including affordable housing, alongside extensive landscaping, green spaces and tree planting to create an attractive new community.

As construction progresses, we’ve also reached an exciting stage for prospective purchasers. Our marketing suite is now open, and customers can reserve their new home.

Our sales team is on hand to answer questions, provide information about the homes and the wider plans for Killingworth Moor, and help customers reserve the home that’s right for them.

Andrew Price, Operations Director for Story Homes North East, said:

“Taking on the role of Principal Contractor marks an exciting next step in the delivery of Killingworth Gate. We’re proud to be leading the construction phase and look forward to bringing this new community to life.

“Having previously delivered our sold-out Backworth development nearby, we’re excited to build on that experience and create another high-quality neighbourhood in North Tyneside. The opening of our marketing suite is another key milestone, and we’re looking forward to welcoming prospective customers to the development. It gives people the opportunity to meet our sales team, find out more about the homes, reserve their new home and see for themselves the progress being made at Killingworth Gate.”

The development is part of the wider Killingworth Moor Masterplan, one of two Strategic Allocations identified in North Tyneside Council’s Local Plan. Once complete, the masterplan will deliver new homes, employment opportunities, green spaces and infrastructure to support a sustainable and well-connected community.

The first phase of the development is supported by a Section 106 Agreement*, securing £2.8 million towards infrastructure improvements and services that will benefit both new and existing residents. The agreement includes contributions towards local education, healthcare, transport and public open space, helping to support the area’s long-term growth.

Our marketing suite at Killingworth Gate is open Thursday to Monday, from 11am to 5pm, and our team would be delighted to welcome you to discuss the homes available and answer any questions you may have.

The latest drone photography provides an aerial view of the development as construction progresses, highlighting the scale of the site and the infrastructure works now underway.
