A couple are enjoying retired life in their beautiful new bungalow thanks to housebuilder Story Homes.
Kenneth and Sonia Thorn purchased their new property back in December, opting for a three-bedroom detached ‘Banbury’ bungalow at the St Andrew’s View development in Thursby.
This is the second Story Home that the couple have purchased for themselves, and their two daughters also own homes built by the local developer – making it four in total for the family.
The retired couple relocated to Cumbria from Exmouth in 2012 to be closer to their youngest daughter and family who lived in Scotland at the time.
Sonia said: “Back in 2012 we purchased a four-bedroom, detached ‘Warwick’ house type at Story Homes’ Kirkland Fold development in Wigton. We loved the development so much that we also bought our eldest daughter – who was living with us in Exmouth – a three-bedroom ‘York’ house type.
“After visiting our new home, our youngest daughter Anna was so impressed with the quality and specification of our home that she too decided to purchase a four-bedroom ‘Ascot’ property at Kirkland Fold and relocated from Lossiemouth to Wigton.”
Kenneth continued: “Fast forward six years and we made the decision that a smaller property would be easier for us to maintain, and so decided to purchase the ‘Banbury’ bungalow at St Andrew’s View making it the fourth Story Homes purchase for our family.”
Regarding the couple’s favourite features of their new bungalow, they said: “We love our lounge – it overlooks a large garden with trees to the rear. The development is in a lovely, quiet location and as we are just a short drive away from Carlisle city centre, we have the best of both urban and rural living.”

“The workmen are all brilliant and go out of their way to make sure we have access to our bungalow during the working day. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The Sales team have also been really helpful throughout our journey of purchasing multiple Story Homes.”
