Work starts on site at new development in Longhoughton

August 2017

We have now started work on the site of our new development in Northumberland.

Situated to the north of Station Road in the village of Longhoughton, Chancel Place will feature a collection of 66 semi-detached and detached three, four and five-bedroom family homes.

This follows Northumberland County Council granting planning approval for the development in March this year. More than 100 people have pre-registered their interest in Chancel Place, with the first homes due to be released for sale this summer.

We have recruited Steve Nuttall, 40, from Washington, as Site Manager. He said: “Story Homes has brought a different product to the North East housing market and I was keen to be part of its continued growth and success, so I jumped at the chance to join the company to manage the Chancel Place site.

“Having the opportunity to run a site from the very start attracted me to the role, as well as being part of a housebuilder that is genuinely committed to quality throughout the entire build process and customer journey.

“We are currently in the first phase of site setup, which includes laying down the infrastructure, roads and sewers, and starting plot development works. I am looking forward to leading the site team as we work towards bringing something different to the Longhoughton area.”

Ian Worgan, Managing Director for Story Homes in the North East, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Steve to the team as we begin work on Chancel Place. With his extensive housebuilding expertise and experience of site management, we know that he is a great fit for the role and will deliver homes in line with our high quality standards.”

Chancel Place is set to bring additional benefits to the community, including job creation and opportunities both directly and indirectly for suppliers, contractors and local businesses in Northumberland.

According to figures calculated by the Home Builders Federation (HBF), the building of 66 homes will support the employment of nearly 300 people, including apprentices and trainees.

As part of our ‘Future Story’ scheme to support requests from charities and community groups local to its developments, we would like to invite charities and groups in the Longhoughton area to apply for sponsorship or donations.

If you are interested in working on our Chancel Place site, please email communications@storyhomes.co.uk to register your interest.
