Story Homes Site Project Manager recognised among UK’s best with prestigious NHBC award

June 2026

A Story Homes Site Project Manager has been recognised as one of the UK’s leading housebuilding professionals after receiving a prestigious Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Building Council (NHBC).

Chris Norlund, who leads construction at our Beaumont Grange development in Darlington, has been honoured for his outstanding site management skills, commitment to excellence and dedication to delivering high-quality homes for customers. Located in the Beaumont Hill area of Darlington, Beaumont Grange is a development of 102 three, four and five-bedroom homes.

Widely regarded as the housebuilding industry’s most sought-after accolade for Site Managers, the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards celebrate those who consistently achieve the highest standards in construction, leadership, health and safety, technical expertise and customer satisfaction.

Chris is among a select group of winners chosen from thousands of Site Managers across the UK, following a rigorous judging process involving detailed site inspections and assessments carried out by NHBC inspectors over a 12-month period.

Commenting on his success, Chris said:

“I’m incredibly proud to have received this award. It reflects the hard work, dedication and attention to detail shown by the entire team at Beaumont Grange every day. Building high-quality homes is something we’re all passionate about, and it’s fantastic to see that commitment recognised by the industry.

“This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the support of the wider team and our trusted subcontractors, who all play an important role in maintaining the standards we’re known for.”

Established more than 40 years ago, NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards are considered the benchmark for excellence in site management and recognise the vital role Site Managers play in delivering new homes of the highest standard.

Mark Ferguson, Operations Director at Story Homes North East, added:

“We’re delighted to see Chris recognised with this prestigious award. His commitment to quality, leadership on site and focus on delivering the very best homes for our customers make him thoroughly deserving of this achievement. This recognition is testament not only to Chris’ expertise, but also to the dedication of the wider Beaumont Grange team.”

Quality Award winners will now progress to the next stages of the competition, with Seal of Excellence and Regional Award winners announced later this year.
