Story Homes and sister company Story contracting are creating more than 250 jobs.

The North West based companies founded by Fred Story, are creating the jobs following a period of sustained growth. The two firms are enjoying ever-increasing demand for their services, resulting in the new positions across the North West and further afield and are looking to attract top quality talent to their ranks.

Sharon Benson, HR Director for Story Homes and Story Contracting said: “We have great career opportunities for hard working, talented and innovative people to join fast-growing businesses and work on exciting projects across the country. We have enhanced our employment offering by introducing innovative reward and recognition schemes and through ensuring that there are learning opportunities for all colleagues to develop rewarding careers with Story.”

In the last year alone, Story Homes had 41 new starters and Story Contracting has had 59. Indirectly, the businesses have both created further jobs and growth through the supply chain and a network of sub contractors. Joint turnover will grow 60% this year from £60m to £100m with further growth to come.

Story Homes employs 135 colleagues at its head office in Carlisle and newly opened Newburn Riverside office in the North East, and has grown in key regions, including south Scotland, the North East and Lancashire.

Quality house-builder Story Homes is creating further roles at sites across Cumbria, north east England, Lancashire and south Scotland. The firm currently has 11 live developments, including sites in Carlisle, Lancaster, Dumfries and Shotley Bridge, supporting more than 165 jobs for sub contractors. It expects to sell 250 homes in the 2013/14 financial year; rising to 400 in 2014/15. With up to eight additional building sites, including Scotby, Biggar, Dalston and Stainburn, there will be job opportunities for at least 120 sub contractors.
