First family move into High Wood

May 2014

The Smith family have recently become the first family to move into Story Homes’ exclusive new development in Lancaster. Built on the former Lancaster Moor Hospital site, High Wood is a fantastic sustainable community of high quality 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes; offering a mixture of detached, semi-detached, terraced and town houses.

With plans to start a family, Jonathan and Stephanie Smith were looking for the perfect family home to last a lifetime. The couple, along with son Thomas, have recently become the first residents to move into High Wood, Story Homes’ first development in Lancashire.

Airline Pilot Jonathan, 32, said: “We had heard whispers about a new development in Lancaster beside the Moor Hospital and when we heard Story Homes name mentioned, we started to do some research about the company and their homes. We decided to visit two other developments, Birkbeck Gardens in Kirkby Stephen and Crindledyke in Carlisle as work hadn’t started on High Wood.

“We were looking for a spacious family home as we were hoping to start a family. We have Lucy, our Labrador too and we wanted a place that was family orientated. We are originally from Lancaster but had moved away for work. We really missed the place so moved back up in 2011 and rented until we could find our dream home. We already had our heart set on a Story Home at High Wood so it made sense.”

“By the time the homes were ready and the first sales launch was held at the end of 2013, we had saved up enough money to buy a four bedroom detached Taunton house type. In the meantime, our son Thomas was born so timing wise everything slotted together nicely.”

Stephanie, 30, a former cabin crew member who is now a full time mum and wife is also delighted with their new family home. She added: “We chose our house as it looks fantastic but also provides us with the space we need for a growing family. The cul-de-sac only has five properties so it’s great for Thomas to play out there in the future. The view is great and the tree lined drive sets it all off.”

“We absolutely love the quality and finish of our new home and the rooms are fantastically spacious, light and airy. We think that the company and the development is very family friendly and family orientated and there is a great extras package as standard too. We have been really blown away at how great the house looks and feels. We still wake up with a smile on our faces!

Jonathan added: “Life at High Wood is going to be very peaceful, tranquil and family orientated – we already get that feeling now. High Wood is what Lancaster has needed for years; an executive development in tranquil surroundings, appealing to young and old alike. We are really impressed with the Story product as the houses are stunning yet sensibly priced. The buying process was efficient, friendly and well supported. We really are impressed and look forward to making High Wood our family home for decades to come.
