First-time buyer secures dream home at Paddocks View with Help to Buy

July 2018

A human resources professional has moved into a brand new Story Home thanks to the government’s Help to Buy scheme.

First-time buyer, Hannah Peacock, has moved onto our Paddocks View development in Middleton-St-George, Darlington. Using the Help to Buy scheme, whereby the government lends buyers up to 20% of the cost of a new home, Hannah was able to get onto the property ladder and secure a spacious new home of her own.

Hannah was previously living with her parents in Stockton, and was looking for a first home that had three bedrooms but was still affordable. With Paddocks View close to the A66 and a short drive from family in Stockton and work in Darlington, it proved to be an ideal location.

Hannah chose a semi-detached ‘Kingston’ house type. She commented: “The Kingston is perfect for me – it’s not too much upkeep for a full-time worker but it would also have more than enough room for a young family. I like the layout with the light and airy kitchen at the front and living room at the back – it’s lovely to open the bi-fold doors and look out onto the garden on a nice day.”

Although Hannah had originally been looking for an older house, she realised when she saw a Story Homes development that new build homes could also have the character she was looking for, and without the maintenance required with older properties.

Hannah said: “I chose a Story Home because of the quality of the build and the unique aesthetic. I did look at some other housebuilders but Story Homes’ specification and finish were way above any others. Many of the features come as standard so I didn’t have to worry about upgrading anything; it already had everything I needed at a really high standard.”

Reflecting on her overall experience, Hannah commented: “I am pleased that my first experience of buying a house has been a very easy process. I can’t praise the site and sales team at Paddocks View enough – they go over and above to help and the customer service doesn’t finish once you have completed on your home. From the moment I moved in, if I needed anything then the Site Manager would personally come and see me, and the Sales Executive Sue was a great support to me too. She ensured I was kept in the loop from start to finish, and she still pops round now to see how I’m getting on.”

Lyndsey Walton, Sales Manager at Story Homes, said: “I am delighted that Hannah is enjoying her new home and was able to benefit from Help to Buy, which continues to be a popular scheme with our customers. We have now sold all homes on the first phase of the development and have just released the first plots on phase two. These include the sought-after ‘Taunton’ house type – Story Homes’ recently announced Home of the Year. We are looking forward to seeing Paddocks View progress further with the launch of this new phase.”

Our Marketing Suite and show homes are open Thursday to Monday, 11.00am to 5.00pm.
