Laying foundations for a successful 2016 with double promotion

December 2015

We have has bolstered our senior team with the recent promotion of two heads of department.

Story Homes/The Board

Louise McGuckin

Louise McGuckin has been promoted from head of sales to sales director for the rapidly growing house builder. During her time with Story Homes, her career has progressed quickly from sales manager to become a member of the board of directors.

Louise has gained significant industry experience throughout her time with the company, playing a key role in several initiatives launched by Story Homes. These include a new sales training programme and the roll-out of the Government’s national Help to Buy scheme, which has been a key driver for the company’s growth.

Moreover, she has witnessed the firm win several industry awards, such as Best Home in Scotland and a number of prestigious UK Property Awards.

Fran Stott has been appointed to the board as HR director, just a year after the company developed its first ever dedicated HR team following the legal separation of Story Homes from its sister company Story Contracting, with whom HR responsibility was previously shared.

She joined as head of HR in 2014 and has significantly contributed to Story Homes’ growth with her considerable experience gained from previous employers, including Nestle, npower and Vodafone.

Steve Errington, Chief Executive at Story Homes, commented: “Story Homes is committed to continued growth through the construction of high-quality homes – growth that wouldn’t be possible without the strategic direction of a talented senior team.

“Both Louise and Fran have consistently demonstrated their capabilities in their respective departments. I’ve no doubt that their expertise will be as valuable in our senior team as it has been effective in the successful running of their teams.”

In addition to the promotions, the firm has committed to a company-wide recruitment drive in 2016, with a particular focus on subcontractors.

Steve added: “While we can be extremely proud of our growth, we maintain that our people are the backbone of our business and many individuals have enjoyed fantastic career progression.

“We continually look to attract the best candidates and will continue to invest significantly in staff development.  We’re delighted that Louise and Fran merited promotion this year and both of them have earned it through their hard work, commitment and contribution to Story Homes. We hope they continue to enjoy long and happy careers with us.”
