Matthew and Marie were the first couple through the doors at the recent launch of Story Homes’ Whins Farm Close development in High Harrington, Cumbria. The couple, who both work for supermarket chain Aldi had been renting a home together while they saved for a deposit.

Matthew, 38, who works in the Workington store said: “We had been saving for a while and when we heard about the development in High Harrington we decided to come down to find out more.

“We had already visited some Story Homes show homes elsewhere in Cumbria to get a feel for what we were going to get. The new development is handy for both of us to commute to work and the three bedroom semi detached house is perfect for us.”

Marie, 33, who works in the Cockermouth store said: “Help to Buy has been a great opportunity for us to buy our first home. It just means that we can buy our own home sooner and we haven’t had to spend more time renting and saving for a deposit.”

Marie and Matthew were presented with flowers and champagne to celebrate being the first buyers at Whins Farm Close.
