New homes approved for Levens, Kendal

January 2017

We have secured a planning application for 49 high quality new homes in the village of Levens, in Kendal.

The planning application for this high-quality and sensitively designed development will complement the existing character of the village, boost the supply of much needed new homes and make a positive contribution towards the supply of affordable housing in the area. The development will also deliver a mix family homes including terraced, semi-detached and detached homes, and some of these new homes will be affordable.

Development planner Siobhan Sweeney said: “We’re delighted our plans for 49 new homes have been approved by South Lakeland District Council. Levens is a desirable and sought after village and there’s lots of interest already. Levens offers the best of rural living nestled within the Lake District and only a short drive away from Kendal and the M6 motorway network.

“Our reputation has been built on designing and building homes which contribute to the character of the local area and our scheme in Levens is no different.

“Our proposals will create a sustainable and integrated development that would make an important contribution to the district’s housing supply.

“The development will bring a number of benefits to the area including job creation for local subcontractors and a knock on effect for the local supply chain.”

Story Homes will commence work on the development from Spring 2017. This development will be called ‘Greengate Meadow’.
