A Story Homes site manager has been nominated for a prestigious construction industry award.
Barry Spedding, Site Manager on Story Homes Mabel Wood development in Great Clifton, Cumbria, has been shortlisted for an LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Warranty Regional Site Manager of the Year award.
Barry, 50, who has worked at Story Homes for two years, will be up against other site managers from across the Northern Region. The winner of the regional award will then go on to compete for the national title of LABC Site Manager of the Year.
Barry, from Workington, said of the shortlisting: “I was really pleased to hear that I had been shortlisted for this award for the work on Mabel Wood. While it is fantastic to be recognised by the LABC, it is also a testament to Story Homes that we build quality homes through real teamwork. I have worked in the construction industry for 32 years and I have finally found a building firm that puts quality above all else. It gives you a great sense of pride in the homes that you build and feedback from local people and customers is so positive that you can’t help but feel pleased with the work you have done.”
LABC is a membership organisation representing all local authority building control departments in England and Wales. LABC Warranty is the provider of structural warranties for new build homes. The LABC awards recognise and reward exceptional sites and site management across the UK. The regional awards are an opportunity for industry leaders to celebrate the excellent work of the construction industry within the Northern Region. The judges consider a number of areas on each site including; site administration, health and safety welfare facilities, storage and protection of materials, waste control, protection of work in progress and site tidiness.
Mabel Wood is a development of 46 new build homes in the village of Great Clifton near Workington. The recently completed site was one of Story Homes’ most popular developments, selling out more than a year ahead of schedule.
The LABC awards ceremony will take place in Gateshead in July and the national winner will be announced in November.
