Our latest show home at Scotby Grove, Carlisle brings this approach to life. Created in collaboration with our interior design partners Show Business Interiors, The Charlton show home has been carefully styled to showcase how considered design can enhance everyday living. From bespoke features and statement design elements to the inspiration behind each room, we’re taking a closer look at the ideas, decisions and craftsmanship that have shaped this unique space.
Every successful interior begins with a feeling.
The Show Business Interiors design team set out to create an experience in the home from the moment you step through the door. The aim for The Charlton show home was to create an interior that felt contemporary yet welcoming, combining understated luxury with everyday comfort.
The initial mood boards established a warm, timeless palette layered with rich textures, handcrafted finishes and carefully curated materials. Statement lighting, tactile fabrics and natural wood tones were chosen to create a sense of depth throughout the home, ensuring each room felt connected while retaining its own individual character.
Throughout The Charlton, bespoke joinery plays a central role in elevating the interiors, adding character while accentuating the space.
In the living room, a handcrafted media wall creates an elegant focal point. Mirrored recesses in the shelves add depth, while integrated LED lighting introduces a warm ambient glow that highlights carefully styled decorative pieces. The result is a feature that feels contemporary and refined without overwhelming the space, perfectly balancing practicality with sophisticated design.
The separate study demonstrates how functional spaces can still feel beautifully designed. A bespoke dusky blue unit incorporates an integrated workspace, creating clean lines and a sense of symmetry that encourages focus and calm. Warm timber surfaces, tactile bouclé seating and statement artwork soften the scheme, resulting in a workspace that feels both productive and inviting.
One of the most distinctive spaces within The Charlton is the children’s bedroom, where storytelling becomes part of the design.
Inspired by the timeless charm of Paddington Bear, the room introduces a playful personality while remaining cohesive to the home’s wider interior scheme. Refined wall panelling adds texture and structure, creating a sophisticated backdrop for a completely bespoke, hand-painted mural that brings the much-loved character to life. The result is a space that captures a sense of imagination and adventure, while still feeling considered, elegant and connected to the overall design of the home.
