When did you first start looking for a new home?

We’ve been looking for about a year.

What made you start considering a new build rather than a second-hand property?

We’ve always known we wanted a new build, having had one before. Although we did view two second-hand Story Homes properties, we were very impressed with the build quality.

How did you first hear about Story Homes and The Fairways development?

Neil is a born-and-bred Cumbrian and knew Story Homes as a reputable local builder. We’d been keeping an eye on the local news and Story Homes’ website, thinking we might move before The Fairways broke ground – clearly we were wrong!

What initially drew you to this development in particular?

We had decided early on to return to Cumbria, and Penrith was ideal. We liked the feel of Story Homes’ existing developments in Penrith, Seaton, Scotby, and Whitehaven. Penrith itself is a lovely town with lots of amenities and great access to the North and West.

Which house type did you reserve, and what appealed to you most about it?

We reserved The Hewson. The kitchen/diner and family room really wowed us, offering separate, spacious areas. The house is thoughtfully designed throughout, with three showers for visiting family, practical access to the garage, and room between neighbouring homes. We also loved the block-paved drive.

Did you consider other housebuilders or developments?

We did look at other builders but weren’t impressed with their sales approach. Story Homes felt professional, friendly, and transparent from the start.

How did you find the process of reserving your home? Were there any moments that stood out to you?

Once we realised The Fairways was moving quickly, we visited the Hewson show home at Edgehill Park in Whitehaven and met The Fairways sales team. From that point, reserving our home was straightforward, well explained, and genuinely exciting.

When do you expect to move in, and what are you most looking forward to?

We’re expecting completion in early June and are counting down the days. We’re excited to finally make the Hewson our home and enjoy the thoughtful layout and space it offers.

Based on your experience so far, would you recommend Story Homes to friends or family?

Absolutely. Based on our experience so far, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Story Homes – and we already have!
