Customer spotlight: Inside the Emmerson

June 2022

Our customers Christine and Kieron have recently moved into their Emmerson, a 4-bedroom semi-detached townhouse, at St John’s Manor in Callerton. This unique property has 1292 sq ft of living space split across three floors. The kitchen/dining area is positioned at the front of the house featuring a bay window, with the spacious lounge spanning the width of the back of the property including French/bi-fold doors to the garden and two skylight windows.

Christine, an Operations Director, and Kieron, an Inventory and Planning Manager, have three children aged 14, 12 and 10 years old, and chose the Emmerson as their perfect family home. The couple already lived in the local area and were interested in the development as soon as it was advertised.

We caught up with Christine to see how the family are settling in and hear all about why they love their new home.

Why do you love your Emmerson?

Christine said: “The biggest draw had to be the impressive lounge & master bedroom. The large, open plan lounge area with bi-fold doors really has that wow factor. It’s a great space, the bi-folds and skylights let in so much light. The master bedroom with the en-suite is perfect for us, the open space is brilliant and the en-suite means no more waiting for the bathroom. It’s a sanctuary away from the children and work!”

The layout of the home is ideal for all the family: “We knew we needed 4 bedrooms to accommodate our family needs. We needed a room for my step-daughters at the weekend and I needed an office space for studying and working from home too.”

They chose to add upgrades to their home such as flooring, fitted wardrobes and extra bathroom tiling, explaining it “made the moving journey easier and although an additional cost, took away the stress.”

Why did you choose Story Homes?

The family were ready to take the next step up the property ladder, having outgrown their previous home and in need of more space. They looked at a number of new builds in the area as well as second hand properties, admitting that “new builds were never in the plan as we always wanted an old house!” before being wowed by our show homes and deciding on a beautiful Emmerson.

St John’s Manor is situated in the village of Callerton, an attractive area that is only six miles away from Newcastle upon Tyne, and four miles from the prestigious area of Ponteland. Christine confirmed: “I love the location, we’re just on the edge of Newcastle so have the best of the city with the quiet village feel of the countryside and it’s a lovely area to go for walks. We’re also close to commuter routes for driving.”

What was the buying journey like?

The family bought off plan and travelled to other Story developments to get a feel for the quality in the show homes and see the characterful street scenes for themselves. Christine said: “We visited the The Ridings in Carlisle to see the Emmerson show home at the time, which gave us a better idea of the size. We also considered the Wilson which would have meant using help to buy, however we decided the Emmerson best suited our needs.”
