In the guide below, we share information and inspiration on how you can incorporate The Rhythm of Blues, the Dulux Colours of the Year 2026, into your own home.

Curious to know more? Read ahead to learn how a thoughtfully curated trio of blues sets the tone for modern, wellbeing-led living.

The Dulux 2026 Colour of the Year reveal, introduced a forward-thinking palette that aligns strongly with the priorities shaping today’s residential design. Rather than selecting a single shade, Dulux unveiled a trio of harmonious blues collectively named “Rhythm of Blues.”

A Palette Designed for Modern Living

The “Rhythm of Blues” collection comprises three distinct tones, each offering a different spatial experience:

  • Mellow Flow – a soft, uplifting blue that introduces clarity and calm. Ideal for bedrooms, quiet zones and relaxation spaces.
  • Slow Swing – a deeper, more immersive tone that brings warmth, depth and tranquillity to living areas and communal environments.
  • Free Groove – a confident, energising blue designed to enliven creative spaces, kitchens or amenity areas.

Whether used on their own or layered together, these shades work in harmony to create interiors that feel modern, cohesive and thoughtfully designed. Featured throughout some of our show homes, discover below how this versatile palette has been brought to life.

The Harrison at Elmbrook Park is a home nestled into the heart of Lancashire. Its design is inspired by its green, open space surrounding areas, with Yarrow Valley country park a short distance away.

The living room is a good example of how Dulux’s Mellow Flow can be used to create a peaceful ambiance. The Harrison, takes inspiration from its surrounding areas. The light, airy blue shade creates a peaceful ambience for the communal area, a space for the family to relax and unwind, whilst providing the beauty of bringing nature indoors.

The use of the soft, ivory upholstery and deep walnut surfaces complements the shade of light blue, creating an earthy and harmonious connection between the interior and the natural world and balances the rooms overall design. The curvature of the boucle accent chair and the coffee tables also creates a free-flowing space, reflecting the tranquillity from the lakes and the ponds in the surrounding area.

Although this shade of light blue has been used in a tranquil environment, it can also be used in various settings, ultimately creating a space to decompress and feel calm.

The Hewson at Edgehill Park is a home located in the semi-rural, coastal town of Cumbria, with beautiful views of the Lake District.

The master bedroom is a perfect example of how Dulux’s Free Groove can be used in your personal space, to inspire relaxation. The Hewson, is reflective of its coastal surroundings and national heritage. The vibrant blue shade creates an inviting and restful atmosphere, allowing the room to become a place where you can feel free in your own home. The tranquil blue shade reflects its idyllic lakes in the area and helps you feel calm in your sanctuary.

This vibrant shade of blue pairs beautifully with light neutrals to add depth to the room. The crisp, white upholstery and stone brushed surfaces anchor the design whilst elevating the natural elements of the home’s surroundings, creating a fresh retreat to enjoy calmness from the everyday. Meanwhile, the contrasting pops of burgundy and brass accents on the feature wall reflect the national heritage of the small gem town, giving the room a modern yet traditional finish.

This example shows a shade of blue like Free Groove, in a relaxing environment reflecting its surrounding area. However, it can be used in various settings to evoke an uplifting and creative space.

The “Rhythm of Blues” palette marks an exciting moment in Dulux’s colour story. By selecting not one, but three distinct shades, Dulux highlights the versatility and emotional range that blue can bring to a space.

As we move into 2026, this trio stands as a celebration of blue’s enduring relevance. Whether used individually or layered to create dynamic tonal transitions, “Rhythm of Blues” invites a fresh, expressive approach to colour, one that encourages creativity while maintaining a sense of balance and harmony.

It is a palette that doesn’t just set a trend, but expands what a ‘Colour of the Year’ can be.
