Life in a Pearson home

June 2026

Homeowners Helen and Ian share their Pearson story

After moving into their Pearson home, Helen and Ian have transformed the space to perfectly suit their lifestyle – from creating a sociable hub for entertaining to designing practical spaces for working from home and muddy dog walks.

We caught up with them to find out what first drew them to the Pearson house type, which features they love the most, and how they’ve made the home their own.

What first attracted you to the Pearson house type, and why did it stand out from the other homes you viewed?

We were looking for a smaller four-bedroom home that still gave us the space we needed downstairs, and the Pearson was the perfect fit. All of the bedrooms are a great size, particularly the spacious main bedroom with its en-suite. We also fell in love with the bright open plan kitchen and dining area, and the double doors into the lounge give us the flexibility to create either one large entertaining space or a cosy separate room.

Which feature of the Pearson has made the biggest difference to your day-to-day life since moving in?

The open plan kitchen and dining area has become the heart of our home. It’s perfect for socialising because whoever is cooking can still be part of the conversation. The utility room has also been a huge bonus, especially for cleaning the dogs after muddy walks.

How does the layout of the home suit your lifestyle, whether that’s relaxing, working from home or entertaining guests?

The layout works brilliantly for us. We spend most of our time in the kitchen and dining area when we’re cooking or entertaining, and we’ve turned one of the spare bedrooms into a home office, which has been ideal for working from home.

Is there a particular room or space in the house that has become your favourite?

Definitely the kitchen and dining area. It’s such a bright and welcoming space, and it’s where we naturally spend the most time together with family and friends.

Has the Pearson lived up to your expectations since moving in? If so, how?

Absolutely. The kitchen and dining area suits our lifestyle perfectly, while the separate lounge gives us a cosy space to relax. Opening the double doors between the two rooms makes the whole downstairs feel even more spacious.

Have there been any features or design details that you’ve come to appreciate even more after living in the home?

The utility room has become one of our favourite practical features, particularly as dog owners. We’ve also made great use of the integral garage by turning it into a home gym while still keeping plenty of storage space.

How have you personalised the space to make it your own?

The upgrade options meant we could move into a home that already felt finished. We chose upgraded appliances, flooring and fitted wardrobes before moving in, along with details like brushed steel sockets, extra tiling, oak doors and mirrors to give it a more personal touch.
