Welcome Christmas into your home

January 2017

If there was ever a time for making the most of your home, it’s Christmas.

Many of us will entertain more guests than we normally see at any other time of the year, and will be thinking hard about how to make sure it is a very special occasion.

With a bit of forethought and planning it’s easy to spruce up your home for the festive season without getting stressed – and ensuring you enjoy the day as much as your guests.

The table is the centrepiece of the occasion and with more people around it to eat, drink and be merry you’ll want to dress it to impress.

Start by making the most of what you have – get your crockery out for inspection and to make sure you have enough. If you don’t, buy plates and bowls in a matching colour – alternate them round the table and the mismatch will look deliberate and stylish.

A new tablecloth and a simple centrepiece created by filling a dish with beautiful baubles to match your décor will look great – all ready to reflect the golden glow of the perfectly cooked turkey!

You can also give your guest bedroom a facelift with soft, snuggly woollen throws and knitted cushions and maybe a new rug to pull the colour scheme together and add a touch of extra comfort.

Make sure your bathrooms are good enough to share by minimising clutter with storage baskets –  matching towels and a few well-chosen ornaments will help the rooms look super smart.

And then relax… Remember – Christmas can’t happen without a happy host!
