The Silks, Galgate

A Lancashire housing development has launched in style.

Deposits for two properties were handed over on the first day of sales at The Silks, in Galgate.

The development of 71 new family homes in Stoney Lane near Lancaster comprises of a mix of two bed apartments and two, three and four bedroom semi-detached and detached houses built by Carlisle based Story Homes.

The site also includes a public open space, a play area available for the whole community to use and a number of homes designated as affordable for local people

The sales came at an exclusive event held in Lancaster for potential customers who had shown interest in Story Homes’ nearby award winning High Wood development.

Sales Manager Hayley Blair said: “The scheme at Galgate has been really well received. We had a fantastic turn out to the launch event and we’re delighted with the level of interest even at this early stage.

“Although we have only been building new homes in Lancashire for two years, we have a successful 28-year history in Cumbria and experience has shown that the more people discover about us and the levels of quality, specification and professionalism embodied in our properties, the more interest grows.”

Work on the development is now well underway and includes preparation for the new roads and drainage required for the new homes

Story Homes’ nearby High Wood development was awarded a UK Property Award in 2014. The development, on the site of the former Lancaster Moor Hospital, was recognised within the industry as one of the country’s top housing development sites.

With plans for two new developments in Lancashire, Story Homes will be bringing its high quality homes to Clitheroe and Cottam in the near future.
