The Grange in Dalston is launched with queue of customers ready to buy

The Grange Launch Event - May 2014 (15)

Mr and Mrs Potter with Sales Manager Susan

Our newest development, The Grange at Dalston, is now open with seven homes already sold after an exclusive launch event was held for customers who had signed up to our mailing list.

More than 390 customers were invited to Carlisle Racecourse on Wednesday 21 May to find out more about The Grange. Prices, layout, plots, house types and availability were all on display for customers.

More than 100 people attended in the first few hours, with some customers’ queuing from 5.30am to make sure they were first in line to buy a specific plot and house type. By the times doors at Carlisle Racecourse opened at 10.30am, more than 50 people had gathered.

Paul Caldwell, 49, queued from 5.30am to make sure he was first in line to purchase his perfect family home. Paul, an office manager, is upsizing and moving closer to work. Paul said: “I joined the mailing list almost six months ago but I had also done my research before I arrived today, looking at the site layout, the plots and working out exactly which house I wanted. I like the style of house we have chosen and Dalston is such a vibrant community with good transport links, great schools and amenities. It was just what we were looking for.”

Two of the first buyers on the development were pensioners Robert and Jean Potter. Robert, who has lived in Dalston his whole life, and Jean, who has lived there since marrying Robert more than 40 years ago, were keen to buy a new home in the village as part of their plans to downsize while staying close to their grown up children and three grandchildren.

Farmer Robert, who has also been on the Parish Council for 44 years said: “The village needs new housing and new families moving into the area to keep it going. We looked at other Story’s developments and decided we would like to buy a home at The Grange. We have been queuing for a little while this morning to make sure we could get exactly what we wanted before anybody else did!”

Richard and Joan Leece, both in their 70’s, have been looking for the ideal home after selling a property in Appleby. They attended the event and decided to snap up a four bedroom detached house. Richard said: “We looked at two other Story Homes developments near Penrith and Kirkby Stephen and we knew that we would get a fantastic quality finish to our home. We loved the workmanship and the fact that the developments were individual and very sympathetic to their surroundings. As we are older now, we don’t want the hassle of having to do DIY so a new build is perfect for us. As well, you get more for your money with a new build. We looked at a number of second hand properties with just one bathroom or lots of work that needed doing but our new home will have three toilets, great insulation and a ten year warranty.”

Joan added: “We had visited Dalston many years ago and I said at the time that it would be a lovely place to live. It has all the amenities we need such as great transport links and shops close by. It just seems like such a lovely community and we can’t wait to move in. We are really happy about our purchase today and I’m looking forward to taking some day trips to the seaside which isn’t so far away either!”

Mandy and Chris

Chris and Mandy Sanderson were delighted after reserving their dream family home for them and their two young daughters aged eight and six. The couple had visited Story Homes’ Alders Edge development in Scotby and decided to put their home on the market in plenty of time to purchase at Dalston. Chris said: “We have chosen a four bedroom detached house which is perfect for us and the girls. We joined the mailing list a while ago and put our house on the market in preparation to buy here. We have spent 15 years in a terraced house from the 1890’s, which we renovated and did lots of DIY in. With a growing family, we don’t have time to do that anymore as it was very high maintenance so we wanted a new build home which takes away some of that work, cleaning and updating things!”

The Grange in Dalston offers 121 new build homes ranging from 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom detached, semi-detached and terraced properties. With a high quality and high specification finish, The Grange is a much sought after Story Homes development.

The sales cabin at The Grange will open on Saturday 31 May 2014. For more information click here.
