From cycling challenges to big nights in, half marathons to coffee mornings and cakes, employees have spent the past year not only having fun but also raising funds for a charity which touches people’s hearts and lives. The cancer charity offers support to cancer patients and their families; including pastoral care and support, welfare advice and financial help and guidance.
The two companies came together to encourage its employees in fundraising activities and Fred Story founder of Story Homes and Story Contracting, says this of the partnership: “I am proud that colleagues have raised such a great amount through this successful partnership with Macmillan. Our staff have been proactive and enjoyed organising and taking part in activities to raise money for a charity which not only touches many of them personally, but also supports cancer patients and their families.”
Sue McDonald, Fundraising Manager for MacMillan Cancer Support in Cumbria praised the efforts from Story colleagues by saying: “It has been fantastic working with Story Homes and Story Contracting over the past year. The staff members really got behind Macmillan, stepped up to the challenge and raised over £8,000. This has enabled Macmillan to support more people affected by cancer. Massive thanks to Story Homes and Story Contracting for their support and I wish them continued good luck with their charity fundraising in 2015/16.”
The £8000 will be used by Macmillan to fund support services for patients and their families. £27 will pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support. £175 will pay for a Macmillan Grant that helps a person living with cancer heat their home when they really need to.
Story Homes and Story Contracting staff are currently voting for their next charity partnership.
