Morpeth couple lay one of the first bricks on their dream home

October 2018

A Morpeth-based couple have laid one of the first bricks on their new home at our prestigious Oakland Park development.

Lester and Christine Rivett were looking for a new home in the local area that had enough room for their adult children to stay. They came across Oakland Park, which is our first Signature Range site and features 39 executive properties, and reserved a four-bedroom ‘Wentworth’. This is one of the eight different house types that have been designed exclusively for the development.

Christine, a pharmacist, said: “Although we’re still working, we wanted to find a house that we could spend our retirement in, and we are actually upsizing slightly in order to have space for all the family. When we saw the quality and high specification you get with a Story Home – especially with the Signature Range – we quickly made our minds up. We really like that the properties have traditional exteriors yet modern interiors with a great open plan design.

“We placed an ‘early bird’ reservation on our plot back in 2016, which we chose specifically for its layout and south-west facing garden. We’ve now exchanged contracts on the property and chosen all our options for personalising the interior which is very exciting.”

Having built a good relationship with Lester and Christine, our Site Manager at Oakland Park invited them to lay one of the first bricks to mark this early milestone in the build of their new home.

With a family background in the building trade, Christine was the one to undertake the task, watched by husband Lester and the site and sales team.

Christine continued: “It was fantastic to be able to visit the site and do this. Throughout the process the team has been exceptional, keeping in touch with us and genuinely caring about our experience. Nothing has been too much trouble and we are pleased that the team has involved us so much along the way – it’s made it all the more special.”

Katherine Hope, Sales Manager at Story Homes, said: “Lester and Christine were the second couple to place an ‘early bird’ reservation when we launched the development, and the site and sales team have really enjoyed guiding them through the process so far. We were delighted that the couple accepted the invitation to lay one of the first bricks and it was great to witness their excitement about their new home. We can’t wait to see them move in next year.”

We do not currently have any plots for sale at Oakland Park, but you may be interested in one of our other developments around the North East. Take a look and choose your development here.
