Ryan joins half a million people across the UK saving for a house with the Help-to-Buy ISA

Government figures reported this week show a total of 555,000 people have opened Help-to-Buy ISA’s since it was launched in December 2015. The accounts enable first-time buyers to save money free of tax and qualify for a government bonus at the same time. If the proceeds are used to buy a home, the government adds 25% to the total.

Painter Ryan, age 21, waited for four hours to make sure he was the first in line to buy his dream 3-bedroom semi-detached home, when properties on Ash Tree Park were released to customers at an exclusive launch event.

The couple have been saving for their deposit to buy their first home together with the Government’s Help to Buy ISA and they were quick to secure one of the ‘Kingston’ house types through the Help to Buy scheme. This three bedroom semi-detached house comes with a new prestige specification. The home offers a spacious lounge and dining room to the rear with bi-folding doors leading out to the patio and garden, a separate kitchen with breakfast area and three good sized bedrooms.

Ryan and his girlfriend Kim (age 23), are both living at home with parents in the local area. They wanted to stay closed to family and friends at the same time of getting their feet on the property ladder. When Story Homes development at Ash Tree Park opened it provided the perfect next step!

Ryan, who works for Kendal based AJM painting and decorating, is really familiar with Story Homes and the quality of their houses as he has worked across Cumbria painting them for a number of years.

Ryan said: “Kim and I have saved our deposit using the Help-to-Buy ISA and are buying our first home together through the Help to Buy scheme. It means we have been able to buy a bigger property that we can grow in to without having to put down a massive deposit. Having three bedrooms means our family and friends can stay over and we eventually want to have a family of our own, so this is a perfect home for us.

“I have painted lots of houses for Story Homes across Cumbria and have wanted to buy one of their homes, so when I found out about Ash Tree Park launching I made sure I was first in line to get my home secured. Working on their homes I see the attention to detail that goes into every aspect of building the houses. I am looking forward to watching the development being built and moving into our new home early in 2017.”

Story Homes Sales Manager Clare Wilson said: “It’s great to see that Ryan and Kim can move into a home that meets their needs and fits in with modern living. Using the Help to Buy scheme they only need to put down a 5% deposit and a 20% government grant. You can easily become a homeowner like them using the Help to Buy scheme.”

“Ash Tree Park is the first development to launch with our new Prestige specification. We know the difference is in the detail and our superior specification includes a range of luxury products and materials as standard, giving every home the wow factor. ”

The first release of homes at Ash Tree Park sold out in the first week. This is a sought after development offering a range of stylish 2, 3, and 4-bedroom properties that are conveniently located to all the amenities that Kendal has to offer including good local schools and transport links.

The marketing suite is open Thursday to Monday from 10.30am to 5.30pm. Call in and speak to Jan to find out about our new releases and for more information on Ash Tree Park. Alternatively visit our website www.storyhomes.co.uk.
