One of our Sales Executives has moved into her own home on our Fairfields Manor development in Crawcrook.
Amber Taylor, 26, decided to purchase a Story Home with partner Barry Latimer, 35, who works as a sports therapist, and Amber then successfully applied for a job with us.
The couple chose a four-bedroom detached ‘Boston’ house type, having spent two years living in Blaydon to save up for their home. Amber moved to the area from Shropshire in 2016 to join Barry, who she had met in Marbella a couple of years earlier.
Fairfields Manor proved the ideal location, as it is close to where Barry grew up and the couple both wanted to stay in the local area. They considered some older properties but wanted to avoid having to do any significant renovation work.
Amber said: “We realised that an older home wasn’t right for us. With a new build there’s no stress; you can move straight in and if you reserve your plot early enough then you can pick all of your options and put your stamp on the house.
“When we came across Story Homes we loved the traditional exterior of the properties and the modern layouts, plus the wide streets and the space between the houses. They definitely have kerb appeal, and after looking at a couple of developments we could really see the quality of build and specification.”
The couple decided to reserve the Boston because of the open plan layout at the back of the house and its individual character with traditional features such as a bay window, which Amber cites as her favourite feature of the house. She commented: “In Shropshire I lived in a Tudor cottage and I still wanted something that looked traditional and not just a square box. The layout worked perfectly for us with the spacious kitchen / dining area, especially for Barry as he does all the cooking! The bi-fold doors leading to the garden are fantastic as the sun shines right through into the kitchen.”
Commenting on their experience of buying their Story Home, the couple said: “Everyone on site has been brilliant. The site manager, Steve, has really looked after us and overall we feel we have received excellent service.”
While waiting for their home to be completed, Amber started working at Story Homes in March. She said: “I enjoy sales and being customer-facing, and I am proud to sell a premium product. Going through the process myself and now being on the other side means I know exactly how customers will be feeling at different points of their journey. Another benefit was becoming an expert on our specification quite quickly due to living in a Story Home.”
