For the third year running Story Homes’ Building Site Manager David Bell has been short-listed for a prestigious ‘Pride in the Job’ quality award. The previous two years have focused on David’s work on transforming Carlisle’s Shaddon Mill into luxury apartments, however this year, David has been short-listed for his work on a new development at Tudor Court, just off Brunswick Road in Penrith.
Major Development Site for 920 houses starts in Dumfries
On 10th November 2006 Story Construction Ltd started work on the Marchfield development site in Dumfries.
This site is the largest development site in Dumfries and Galloway with an allocation to build 920 new houses. It represents a significant urban expansion to Dumfries in a location which is well served by sustainable transport, with an existing cycleway passing through the site. This will be complimented as the site develops with a network of paths and cycleways
within the site, adding to the existing facility.

England and British Lions winger to open new Rugby Club
Workington-born Mark Cueto is to officially open the new Creighton Rugby Club at Parkland Village. The Sales Sharks flyer, who was named Cumbria’s Sports Personality of the Year 2005 will pay a flying visit to the new clubhouse on Wednesday 17th May. Mark played in all of Englands Six Nations matches in 2006, having toured with the British Lions in New Zealand in 2005.
Lighting up Dixon’s chimney
Story Homes have just received the good news that the Carlisle City Council owned Dixon’s Chimney can continue to be lit. Originally lit for the Christmas and New Year period only, Story Homes decided to approach the City Council following fantastic feedback about the lighting from both residents and motorists.

David Bell, a building site manager from Carlisle has won a Quality Award in NHBC's national Pride in the Job (PIJ) competition. PIJ is a stringent test of site manager's skills and every one of the 400 Quality Award winners has been handpicked from over 18,000 NHBC registered house builders who run sites across the UK.

The Daily Mail has just announced the winners of the 2005 UK Property Awards. Story Homes fought off stiff competition to scoop a ‘Daily Mail UK Property Award for Cumbria for their Parkland Village development.
Turf cutting ceremony for Creighton rugby club’s new sporting facilities
Work is due to start on site next week for Creighton RUFC’s new sports facilities. The new clubhouse and pitch is being built at Parkland Village, and is one of the last, but most important stages in the redevelopment of the former Garlands site.
