Ribby Hall gymnastics team has secured a sponsorship deal through Story Homes’ Future Story funding.
The Kirkham based gymnastic team thanked Story Homes for providing their team with funding to help with equipment costs, clothing, transport, competition, and training costs. The club was formed around six years ago and was the dream of coach Ana Blackburn. It’s grown from recreational classes that were being delivered, to gymnasts qualifying for Team GB.
Ribby Hall Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, praised the firm’s sponsorship and said its support has allowed youngsters in the area to access gymnastics.
Jennife Byrne, a parent supporting the club said: “There are currently 18 members in the squad and the club is entirely funded by contributions from parents. The funding from Story Homes is important, as it means that all of the girls can be supported to progress further. It will help towards providing equipment, clothing, transport, and the costs to train and compete on national and international levels.
“All of the team live locally and two of our members actually live on Story Homes’ Brookwood Park development in Kirkham. It’s great to see that Story Homes has Future Story funding to support the communities in which they build homes.”
“Eleven squad members have been selected for the GB development pathway for espoir (U12s), the junior team will compete in Europe and one member who is a senior GB individual and has been selected to compete at the World Cup in Spain this year. This is a huge achievement for a tiny club and something that their coach could never imagine in her wildest dreams those few years ago!”
In 2018, the espoir (U12s) group achieved a bronze medal at the British Championships, the junior group won gold; and individually we ranked number 1 for British junior all around champion, and individual British junior ball champion. The club hopes to have continued success in 2019.
