Help to Buy gets a family moving

April 2015

A young couple in Kendal had a very busy week in March, as they moved into their new home just days after their baby boy being born.

Baby, Sebastian entered the world on the Thursday and just six days later Stuart Knight and his partner, Joanna Borduckiewicz were packed up and ready to move into their new home at The Beeches, Kendal.

Joanna, 31, and Stuart, 34, knew they wanted to buy a home in Kendal and after renting a property for three years in the town came across The Beeches. They visited the show homes where Sales Executive, Linda McNally explained the home buying incentives on offer from Story Homes and the couple then realised that owning their own brand new home was within reach.

Joanne says: “Without using the Help to Buy scheme we couldn’t have managed to buy our own home. The whole process was very easy too. We used Butterworths solicitors and they were really, really helpful.”The Beeches baby

Story Homes works in partnership with northern-based Butterworths solicitors in providing a smooth end-to-end service to its customers. Joanne pays testament to them: “We didn’t have to do too much of the work, which was great for us as I don’t really understand the English system and it took the pressure off Stuart. It couldn’t have been easier.”

The family have settled into their new home and Joanna has nothing but good things to say: “We love our new house and are now planning to buy new furniture to make it home. Our last house had a small kitchen and we just love our new kitchen and dining area. We’ve had so many visitors lately and everyone admires our house and comments how the lovely area it’s in.” She goes on to say: “I like the fact that we are going to own our house in years to come and as it’s brand new, we can start from the beginning with decorating and furnishing,” explains Joanna. The Beeches baby 1

Stuart, a machinist at Gilkes, is local to Kendal and the couple really wanted to remain in the town as they love being surrounded by the hills of the Lake District and take time out of their busy lives to enjoy the odd walk or two. Remaining close to his family came in handy on moving day: “It was a very busy time and I basically just sat around and gave orders! It was great as we had Stuart’s family helping us to move and they were wonderful,” explains Joanna.

Joanna originates from Poland and is looking forward to her family visiting in the summer when she can enjoy her new garden with her parents – she even has the odd garden job planned for her dad to carry out!
