A local family has been able to move into a new home with ease, thanks to a scheme offered by Story Homes.
Dumfries-based couple Rachael and David Gauld purchased a new-build home at Story Homes’ Summerpark development, and moved in last month with their two daughters – Louise, aged five, and Chloe, aged one.
David, a martial arts business owner and Rachael, who owns a dance school, visited the show home at Summerpark and decided the very same day that they were going to purchase a property on the development. They also chose to use the developer’s HOME Scheme, which allows buyers to reserve their plot straightaway, before they have a buyer for their current property or before it is even on the market. As part of the scheme, Story Homes will pay estate agency fees and work with local estate agents to get the best price for the property.
The family opted for a four-bedroom, detached ‘Auchen’ house type. Rachael said: “Each individual room is a great space. The lounge and kitchen/dining areas are ideal for our busy lifestyle, providing us with a comfortable and relaxing environment after a hard day’s work.”
Before purchasing their new Story Home, the family was living in Cargenbridge, Dumfries. Rachael and David decided to make the move to Summerpark because they wanted to be settled in their dream house before their eldest daughter started primary school, plus they wanted to be closer to family and friends.
David explained: “Story Homes has built an excellent reputation in Dumfries for producing high quality homes and exceptional customer service. The versatility of the different styles of home in Summerpark is visually attractive and the development is very nice to walk through. The easy access to local amenities was also a big attraction for us.”
Rachael and David had their hearts set on a new-build property after spending five years renovating and refurbishing their previous home – they were therefore keen to move into a new-build where there was no work that needed to be carried out. The fact that they were able to choose their own kitchen, fire place, bathroom tiles and carpets was also a big selling point for them.
Rachael said: “We simply love the amount of space in our new home. With a number of bathrooms and copious amounts of storage, the home is ideal for a family like ours.”
