Story Homes has successfully secured the backing from Preston city council with outline planning permission approved for up to 125 new homes in Barton, Preston, following public consultation in May 2019.
The proposed development will provide a range of much needed high quality homes ranging from one to five-bedroom homes. Up to 35% of the homes are likely to be affordable. The proposed scheme will make a significant contribution towards Preston City council’s housing requirement.
As part of the development, Story Homes will contribute around £900,000 in community infrastructure levy payments; £157,542 towards improvements to the A6; upgrade works to two bus stops; £6,000 towards implementation of a travel plan and around £950,000 towards provision of primary and secondary school places.
Story Homes’ Land Manager, Martin Nugent said: “We are delighted to have received the backing of Preston City Council to grant outline planning permission for up to 125 new homes in Barton.
“We have worked closely with officers to create a scheme that will deliver benefits for Barton and the wider area as well as be sympathetic to the surrounding landscape. The homes will help boost the supply of much needed new homes and make a contribution towards the supply of affordable housing in Preston.
“Our proposals will also provide local contractors with opportunities for work, and there will be knock on benefits for local supply chains and other local businesses and services.”
