Our customers Carol and Matt Smith have secured their beautiful new home at Heaton Green, Kirkham using our Part Exchange scheme.
The couple chose our Charlton house type – a five-bedroom property which would become their new ‘forever’ home with space for the family to grow.
Carol, a Teacher and Matt, an Engineer, moved into their new home back in May along with their daughter Sophie who will be two in October. Here’s what the couple had to say about their experience of purchasing a Story home:
Space and design features
When we came across the Story Homes developments, we realised they combined the character we loved with the practical family living spaces we craved.
We chose the Charlton as we loved the huge amount of space. We often have friends or family staying, so a spacious spare bedroom with an en-suite was important to us, and we loved that we could use the extra room downstairs as a playroom for our little girl – whilst still having room for a study upstairs for me to do my marking in!
The huge kitchen diner with separate utility room sold the house to us. We could see exactly how our family would use the space every day. We also love the outside space. The garden is a great size, and the landscaped front and side gardens make the house look so beautiful.
The design of the house is absolutely perfect for family living. It feels as though Story found our wish list – our house ticks every one of our boxes! The little things make such a big difference – such as the storage space under the stairs and upstairs, the utility room, and the beautiful bi-fold doors from the kitchen to the garden. So much thought has been put into the design, and it’s exactly what we were looking for.

Development and location
Heaton Green was just a building site when we first visited, so we went to see some completed developments before making the decision to reserve. For us, the Story Homes developments really stand out from the rest. The houses are really individual and have that extra bit of outside space which makes the streets look lovely. When we saw the show homes, we could tell the standard of the finish would be second to none. We were right – our home has such a luxurious feel.
We viewed the Hewson and Charlton show homes at Heaton Green, and we thought both were absolutely beautiful. However, the Charlton really blew us away from the moment we stepped into the huge, welcoming entrance hall. I think we made up our mind as soon as we walked inside!
We moved from St Annes which is only 15 minutes away. Kirkham is the ideal location – it’s such a lovely little town with lots going on, and we’re surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Part Exchange
We hadn’t originally been looking at new build houses, but when the sale of our previous home fell through twice, we began to feel fed up. We couldn’t see how we would ever turn our dream into a reality. Then we learned about the Part Exchange scheme, which seemed to be the perfect solution.
Within a week of applying for the Part Exchange scheme, Story had made us an offer on our home. We were delighted and it made everything so much easier for us, taking all the stress of trying to move in a chain away.
Our journey
The service we have received from Story has been fantastic. Our Sales Executive, Dawn has been amazing and has guided us through the whole process since the day we walked into the show home. Since moving in, she has checked in on us regularly to make sure everything is going smoothly.
We expected to have some snagging issues with a new build house, but our home had been finished to the highest standard. The very few small issues we have had have been sorted quickly by Dawn and our wonderful Site Manager, Paul. They have both managed to make us feel like we are their number one priority!
We would absolutely recommend a Story home to anyone. Our home is everything we dreamed of, and the customer service we have received from Story has been excellent.
