We were delighted to recently receive planning permission to build an additional 24 homes at our award winning development, Brigsteer Rise in Kendal.
Westmorland and Furness Council’s Strategic Planning Committee voted to approve the 24 home scheme in September 2023 . Following the meeting, we have been working on completion of a legal agreement with the Council to secure various contributions, and the decision notice has now been issued.
The approval comes just a few months after we announced we had been recognised by the prestigious UK Property Awards, winning two 5-star accolades for the site which was awarded ‘Best Residential Development’ in the Cumbria region and ‘Best Residential Interior for a Show Home.’
Brigsteer Rise forms the residential allocation in the Local Plan, which earmarks the entire site for the delivery of approximately 189 new homes in total. This latest phase of the award winning development will continue to deliver a mix of one to five-bedroom high quality homes, in this sought after location, and will help the Council bring this important housing allocation to fruition.
This latest phase also brings with it an additional 8 affordable homes, as well as a £50,715 biodiversity net gain contribution to be paid to the Cumbria Wildlife Trust to establish and maintain a species rich pasture at Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve, and a £12,170 payment to the Council for the provision and improvement of open space on or adjacent to the development.
