‘Help to Buy’ makes Emma’s dreams come true

January 2017

New homeowner Emma Pearson is delighted with her brand new Story Homes apartment at Crindledyke Farm, Carlisle.
Emma and her partner were renting, and finding it hard to save the deposit to buy their first home together, and at one point moved back in with her parents to speed up the saving.

The pair started to look round some homes, to get an idea of what they could afford and went to look at our development The Grange, Dalston just to daydream. It’s here that they found out about the ‘Help to Buy’ scheme on offer from Story Homes, and the couple then realised that owning their own brand new home was within reach.

Emma said; “Without using the ‘Help to Buy’ scheme we couldn’t have managed to buy our own home. The whole process was very easy too. Jane our Sales Executive was really, really helpful and the whole process was very easy. She helped us with the paperwork and I would absolutely recommend it.”

“We ended up buying at Crindledyke Farm in Carlisle as it’s the perfect location for work. I can even pop home in my lunch break.”
Head of Sales, Hayley Blair said; “Help to Buy is a Government initiative to help all homebuyers. Not just first time buyers, to own their own new build home in England. With just a 5% deposit and a 20% government loan, you can easily become a homeowner like Emma has using the Help to Buy scheme at any of our developments.”

The scheme uses a 20% equity loan from the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency to top up your 5% deposit, meaning that you need just 75% secured on your mortgage. The equity loan is interest free for five years and you can pay it back at any time or on the sale of your home.

The pair have settled into their new two bedroom apartment, with parking and Emma has nothing but good things to say: “I like the fact that we are going to own our house and as it’s brand new, we have a blank canvas for decorating and furnishing.”

We have apartments at both ‘The Grange’ in Dalston and at ‘Crindledyke Farm’ in Carlisle. Visit the marketing suites to find out more, which are open Thursday to Monday from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
