Luxury development coming to Morpeth

October 2015

We are launching a ‘Signature Range’ of executive home in the North East by bringing a 39 home luxury development to Morpeth.

The development will feature a range of four and five bedroom properties at Peacock Gap close to Morpeth Town Centre. An agreed off site contribution will be given for affordable housing.

The development will create new jobs both directly and indirectly including opportunities for local subcontractors and the supply chain, as well as bringing economic benefits for the local area.

There will also be an enhancement of the boundary landscape, along the southern boundary.

Sarah Armstrong, North East Head of Land and Planning at Story Homes, added: “We’re thrilled to be launching our Signature Range at Morpeth. This range brings all the build quality you’d expect from Story Homes but to an even more luxurious standard.

“We decided to launch in Morpeth as there is a great demand for quality homes in this location. While being located next to beautiful countryside, the town also has excellent services and schools and is very well connected to Newcastle.

“The market demand for high quality housing exists and Story homes looks forward to meeting this as development commences.”

Councillors from Northumberland County Council Planning Committee had refused the planning application against the advice of Planning Officers but the application was subsequently approved following an appeal.PG 3 REV A

Planning permission was obtained by the development team at land and property specialists George F White, who provided consultancy for the planning application and appeal, managing the project from the beginning for both Story Homes and the landowners.

Stephanie Linnell, Planning Consultant at George F White, said: “We are delighted that the development, which is in a fantastic location at the entrance to Morpeth, has been given the green light.

“The recent changes in government legislation around planning and development have led to a real shift in emphasis towards housing delivery which is the most significant I have seen in over 20 years of practice. I’m delighted that George F White were able to assist in securing the delivery of this large scale, high quality, residential development.”
